Primetals Technologies has been contracted by Acciaierie Venete S.p.A. for the modernization of the finishing train of the rolling mill installed in Mura (BS), Italy. The project comprises the replacement of eight existing housing-type rolling stands with modern housing-less type Red Ring Series 5 units, which are lighter and more conveniently movable from the rolling line to the workshop and vice versa.

Dragon Steel Corporation grants FAC to SMS Concast for the modernization of their six-strand billet caster

Dragon Steel Corporation, Ltd., a subsidiary of China Steel Corporation located in Taichung, Taiwan, has granted SMS Concast, a company of SMS group, the final acceptance certificate (FAC) for the modernization of their six-strand billet caster. The objective of the revamp was to improve the billet quality for the local high-end market, for applications including fasteners, welding rod, mechanical components and others.

Italian steel producer Duferco commissions SMS group to supply medium section mill powered exclusively by renewable energies

Duferco Steel, located in Brescia, Italy, has placed an order with SMS group for a new medium section rolling mill. This flagship project will focus on core components of digitalization and automation in production and logistics, and on sustainability. This new, ultra-modern rolling mill to be installed in Italy will make Duferco one of the most important centers of steal beam production in Europe.

ANDRITZ Maerz transfers global copper furnace business to SMS group

ANDRITZ Maerz GmbH, based in Düsseldorf, Germany, and SMS group GmbH have entered into an agreement to transfer the global copper furnace business, including the related intellectual property (know-how, references, patents, etc.) and service activities, from ANDRITZ Maerz to SMS group. This acquisition further strengthens the position of SMS group as a system supplier in the field of non-ferrous metals production.
