Primetals Technologies to supply Chinese customer with unique 3-strand continuous slab caster

  • First ever 3-strand slab casting concept for achieving higher capacity while keeping the same space used for casting at the steel plant
  • Investment will significantly increase production capacity

Recently, Chinese steel producer Tangshan Donghua Iron and Steel Enterprise Group placed an order with Primetals Technologies to supply a new 3-strand continuous slab caster for its plant in Tangshan, Hebei province, China. The machine will supply slabs to a recently installed hot rolled rolling mill. Startup is expected for December 2022.

Wuppermann commissioned a new photovoltaic system at its production site in Altmünster in mid-March 2022. The annual energy production of the plant, which was erected on the roof of the hall of Wuppermann Metalltechnik GmbH (WMT), amounts to around 492 MWh.

JSW Steel orders Danieli high productivity Straightening Lines

JSW Steel has ordered from Danieli two complete straightening lines for the conditioning of rolled steel bars for Salem Works, India.

The new installation will consist of two fully automated, high-productivity straightening lines capable of conditioning a wide range of diameters, reaching straightening speeds up to 120 m/min.

ArcelorMittal recently placed an order with Primetals Technologies for two new LD converters (BOFs) at its steel plant in Dunkirk, located in the northern part of France. Primetals Technologies will replace one of the existing LD converters, which has reached the end of its lifetime. The other new LD converter will be held on stock in Dunkirk for later installation.

Primetals Technologies has received the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) for its F5 and F6 main drive upgrade project with Nucor Steel Arkansas of Armorel, Arkansas. This completes the third phase of the total project: full replacement of the hot strip mill’s six main mill stand drives.
