Effective May 1, 2015 ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center GmbH has acquired the Stuttgart-based steel processing specialist Herzog Coilex and integrated it into its organization.
There it will operate from now on under the name ThyssenKrupp Stahl Service-Center GmbH, “Coilex Stuttgart” branch. Hans-Peter Pfaff, previous managing director of Herzog Coilex GmbH, is the head of the new branch and will also join the management board of ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center GmbH.
The combination of the two companies is in connection with the ThyssenKrupp Group's Strategic Way Forward and follows the overriding goal of integrating ThyssenKrupp’s businesses more closely so as to create sustainable value by working together as a diversified industrial group.
Marcus Wöhl, Chairman of the Management Board, says: “The acquisition of Herzog Coilex is an important step in driving forward our growth goals and increasing our local presence in the south of Germany. I am convinced that closer integration with our group and the improved network structure will offer many advantages for our customers.”
ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center increased its shareholding in Herzog Coilex from 74.9% to 100% in October 2014, thereby integrating one of the leading steel service center companies in southern Germany. The new 25,000 square meter Coilex Stuttgart center processes several hundred thousand tons of cold-rolled, hot-rolled and coated slit strip and blanks per year for customers in the automotive, furniture, fittings and white goods industries.
Some 900 employees at the ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center Group process around 1.5 million t of flat steel into slit strip and blanks annually. The company has a European-wide Service Center network with ten branches in five countries. It provides its customers in the automotive, construction, electrical and furniture industries with high-grade flat steel products and tailored services for every aspect of materials processing. Thanks to ongoing capital expenditures, all the locations have extensive, ultramodern processing capacities. The headquarters are at Krefeld.
