At the specialist trade fair “Wire”, which starts in Düsseldorf on April 16th, Saarstahl AG, leader in the manufacture of wire and bar steel, will present itself for the first time together with its new partner Mapudo GmbH, an independent online platform for the purchase and sale of steel and NE metals. SHS Ventures, the venture capital company of the Saarland’s steel industry, acquired a share in Mapudo GmbH in 2016.

As a steel company leading in technology, Saarstahl places great importance on additionally providing its customers with the potential of new online sales channels. The cooperation with Mapudo makes this possible: as of now, 2A material from Saarstahl can be sourced using the online marketplace Mapudo.com. When this platform has successfully become established on the market, it is planned to extend it to include other products.

The start-up, which was founded in 2014, connects an industry such as steel trading, which is rich in tradition, with the state-of-the-art possibilities of E-commerce. Customers, in particular, will benefit from the digitalization of sales channels – purchasing processes will thus become even simpler, more convenient and more efficient.

Mapudo brings dealers and buyers in the steel trade together in a fast, efficient and reliable way and thus reduces transaction costs on both sides. At Mapudo, buyers find a range of steel and accessory parts from a variety of dealers. The search for products uses a standardized procedure involving only a few clicks. Offers are available without any time delay and can be ordered directly online. Mapudo GmbH was founded in Düsseldorf in 2014. The management team consists of Sebastian Grethe, Niklas Friederichsen, Christian Sprinkmeyer and Markus Weiland.
